On Saturday, June 29, the Leominster community gathered to celebrate the contributions of Jim and Cindy Craig with a party at City Hall in Leominster.
About 150 people were in attendance, along with family and friends of the Craigs.
Father Jim Craig has been rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in downtown Leominster for almost 23 years. He retired as of July 1 and celebrated his last services at St. Mark’s June 30.
Jim and Cindy Craig have worked tirelessly for the greater Leominster community with their work with the Beacon of Hope, the Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network, Our Father’s House and many other social services.
State Sen. Dean Tran (R-Fitchburg) presented Father Jim with a proclamation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts recognizing Jim for all of his hard work and dedication. In addition, Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella was in attendance and presented the Craigs with a formal declaration to thank them for all of their good deeds.
“I would like to thank my wife, Cindy, and my children Eric and Sarah, who supported me in my decision to go to seminary approximately 30 years ago,” Father Jim said. “Cindy knew from day one that we were all in this together. It has truly been our pleasure and joy for us to serve the community for so long and we will miss everyone.”
Jim and Cindy Craig are relocating to the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area to enjoy retirement. Father Jim plans to take at least six months off before getting back into action in South Carolina in both pastoral and community service.
