The Creation Care Leadership Circle has begun introducing Good News Gardens here in Western Massachusetts. The idea originated at Plainsong Farm, and then was modified and embraced by the Episcopal Church’s Evangelism and Creation Care Teams. We’ve started preparing an application for the 2020 Episcopal Evangelism grant, and are hoping some parishes will consider signing up to learn more about joining this project in the spring.
We will bring the Good News Gardens movement to Western Massachusetts. This program practices the love of Christ and will equip Episcopal churches across our diocese and all of their members to 1) grow and give healthy food; 2) reflect on connections between scripture, faith, food and gardening; and 3) learn about and influence food systems and policies that affect society as a whole. Grace Church in the Berkshires is already modeling, through Gideon’s Garden, how growing and giving healthy food can transform lives. We will collaborate with area partners to spread the good news through gardening.
Hello Good News Gardeners!
It is such a joy to see people’s photos of what is going on in your #goodnewsgardens! We love hearing the stories of how the Holy Spirit is working through soil and conversations. Please keep sending us your photos and stories so we can share the good news!
We have started our Growing Faith series, but you can still join in! Every Tuesday from 5:00pm-6:00pm on Zoom. We will be going through a series of offerings from Plainsong Farm, exploring the intersections of food and faith. We’d love to have you join in!
