A Vision for the Ministry of All the Baptized
“Loving the Questions” is for all members of our Diocese who want to explore God’s call to ALL baptized persons, to grow deeper in discipleship by discovering how particular life experiences, individual gifts and passions connect with God’s Mission! “Loving the Questions” hopes to offer opportunities for reflection and self-exploration, spiritual practice, and creative ways to think about areas of ministry, both in congregational life and in the world “outside the walls.”
God has planted within each of our hearts a way of being and seeing the world that only we can bring. When we offer the fullness of who we are, we give this world an irreplaceable and priceless gift: our very selves. How do I offer the fullness of who I am? How do I live my best life? What form does this take? These are the questions, we seek to wrestle out in Loving the Questions as we seek first and foremost to live into our baptismal covenants. If you find yourself wondering or wrestling with these questions, your presence, like your presence to this world, would be a gift to us all. We will love and live our way to the answers together in community.
WHAT IS IT? Loving the Questions is a discernment space that honors the Spirit’s call to both lay and ordained individuals, and aims to enable you to:
- Know and understand your unique giftedness
- Understand what God is calling you to do
- Identify the tools you will need for your ministry; and
- Develop a plan of formation for ministry
WHEN AND WHERE IS IT? Due to the ongoing concerns of COVID-19, Loving the Questions will be held online via Zoom from 6:30-9:00 pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Exceptions to this are Thanksgiving and Christmas week. The dates are as follows:

- October 14 & 28

Small-group Communities of Discernment will be open to all but required for those discerning ordained ministry.
DO I HAVE TO DO BOTH PARTS? Each component of Loving the Questions is “free-standing” – all interested may participate in either one of the components OR both. Please note that any person who is exploring a possible call to ordained ministry in the Diocese of Western Massachusetts must participate in BOTH the Community of Education and formation and a Community of Discernment, effective January 2016.
